FAQ
When can I claim my CIS Tax Refund? |
|---|
|
You can claim your Tax Refund once the tax year ends on 5 April each year and you have a maximum of four years in which to claim any tax refund for 2011/12, or it will be lost. The four year rule also allows Subbies to claim tax back for the previous three tax years if they have not already done so for earlier years. |
How long it will take to get my Tax Refund? |
|---|
|
If you have all the documents and there is nothing missing we are able to prepare your tax return and calculate your tax refund as soon as the tax office registers us as your tax agent. It can take anywhere between a couple of days and a couple of weeks for the tax office to deal with the repayment but HMRC security checks can sometimes slow the process down. We will do everything we possibly can to speed up your Tax Refund and we will keep chasing the Taxman until they release your refund. Remember .....we don't get paid until we get your refund. |
What are your fees? |
|---|
|
Our fees are always transparent and you will not be charged anything unless it was agreed with you in writing in advance - absolutely 100% guaranteed. For one year refund cases our fees after discounts are only £224.99 including vat. If you have more than one year to sort out we will give you a no obligation fee quote that will give you a choice between a flat fee option and a "No Win - No Fee" option. See our prices for more details. |
How much Tax Refund can I get? |
|---|
| Our average Tax Refund for a single year is £1,714. Your Tax Refund depends on many factors like your income, expenses, and tax paid but we always ensure that we get every penny to whnich you are entitled. |
Is Tax Returns Direct connected to HMRC? |
|---|
|
No. We are an independent company providing Tax Refund services to self-employed CIS subcontractors in the UK. If you appoint us to deal with your Tax Refund we will become your tax agent and we will be able to deal with the Taxman on your behalf. We are always on your side and our aim is to get all the tax back that you are entitled to ....and as quickly as possible. |
Can I claim Tax Refund myself? |
|---|
|
Yes. You can complete your own tax return on paper or register with HMRC to use their online services. However if you are not familiar with the tax system it can be confusing and time consuming. We know many cases where Subbies prepared their own tax returns and ended up owing money to the Taxman instead of getting a Tax Refund. We are experienced in obtaining Tax Refunds for self-employed CIS subcontractors and you are more likely to receive higher Tax Refund and more quickly than if you try to do it yourself. |
How far back can I claim? |
|---|
|
The deadlines for making tax refund claims changed on 1/4/2010 and you can now only claim your tax refund for the last 4 years - prior to 1/4/2010 the limit was 6 years. Despite these changes under certain circumstances we are still able to make tax refund claims for the years prior to 2007/08. The rules and deadlines could change again so if you think you are due a tax refund, get in contact with us as soon as you can. |
What if I have lost my CIS statements? |
|---|
|
From experience we know that people can easily misplace documents. Also, in many cases contractors don't supply subcontractors with all the CIS vouchers / statements to evidence the CIS tax deductions made. Don't worry if this is the case with you. It is our job to help you and to get it all sorted. We will chase the contractors, ask the Taxman for information, or suggest other ways in how to proceed with your case. The most important thing to remember is that we see it as a part of our commitment to you to chase missing information...............and we will not charge you anything extra to do this. |
How will I receive my Tax Refund? |
|---|
|
The Taxman will send your Tax Refund to our nominated client bank account. This as an account dedicated specifically to hold our clients' money. There are very strict controls which apply to such accounts so you can be assured that your money will be safe. Your Tax Refund will be dispatched to you from our client account on the same day which we receive cleared funds from the Taxman on your behalf. You will also receive a letter from the Taxman confirming where they sent the repayment so you will be in the picture at all times. |
What is the deadline for claiming my Tax Refund? |
|---|
| The deadline for your 2011/12 tax return is 31st January 2013. If you don't submit your tax return to HMRC by this deadline you will be issued with a £100 penalty for late tax return. Automatic daily penalties have now also been introduced. These are very draconian. If you don't manage to complete your tax return and claim your CIS Tax Refund by the deadline we can help you to bring you up to date and get your Tax Refund. |
